And nobody else...

Ahmed Ayed

“Be yourself and nobody else,” Peer Gynt, by Henrik Ibsen

Both intimate and universal, …And Nobody Else interweaves the stories of Palestinian performer Hamza Damra and Tim Clijsters, singer and drummer of the group BRNS, with that of the main character of Peer Gynt. Ahmed Ayed explores the figure of this anti-hero of Henrik Ibsen’s play, whose motto “Be yourself and nobody else” echoes the difficulties faced by many immigrants in finding their own identities among the boxes they must now fit into.

Through the raw energy of Hamza Damra, the metamorphosis of the body and the pulsing of the drums, …And Nobody Else plays on the strangeness of Ahmed Ayed’s visual universe in a performance infused with rock accents. A brilliant choreographic creation about the freedom to be yourself beyond the roles and masks imposed on us.
