CYBERCAFE

Samuel Hackwill, Jacob Lyon, Lori Roussey & Kevin Zanin

Cybercafés in the 2000s were a place for socialising, partying and political and technological emancipation for a whole generation who didn't necessarily have an internet connection at home. For many people, the first steps into the world of computing were taken there, often through games, and always surrounded by peers, in a joyful sharing of technical tools.
Samuel Hackwill (L'Amicale) presents a selection of games, texts and drawings relating to computing and its impact on our culture. This body of work is accessible from a fleet of computers gleaned from the second-hand market and integrated into a cardboard scenography designed by Jacob Lyon.
With games and works by, among others, : Nicky Case, Bennett Foddy, Molleindustria, the F.A.T. lab, and lectures by Lori Roussey (specialist in personal data legislation) and Kevin Zanin (researcher on digital folklore).
