WORK
Claudio Stellato
Claudio Stellato is a multidisciplinary artist. He trained at the Scuola civica jazz di Milano and experimented with street theater with different groups. In 2001 he joined the Lido, Center des Arts du Cirque de Toulouse. Between 2004 and 2014 he was a dancer for various companies: Cie Kdanse, Olivier Py, Roberto Olivan, Cie Arcat, Fré Werbrouck, Karine Pontiès, Cridacompany and L.O.D among others. His first play L'Autre was created at the Théâtre des Brigittines, in Brussels, in March 2011. Alongside his creations, he is an outsider (?) on several projects. He also regularly gives workshops. Since January 2014 he has been an associate artist at the Halles de Schaerbeek in Brussels and has collaborated with the Cridacompany on their new show Mama/papa carnaval created in September 2016. In December 2015 with Nicanor de Elia, he also staged Bang! the show of the third year promotion of Esac.

Prix du jury professionnel au festival Momix 2020
In his new show Work, Claudio Stellato orchestrates chaos. With a bunch of DIY artists, devoted to their craft to the point of no return, he will show us the beauty and and absurdity hidden in raw materials.
The set looks like an (almost) normal carpentry workshop. But acts of renovation and destruction slowly blur into one and start a devilish dance together. Each movement performed by the handymen are decomposed, shifted, reinvented to eventually take an almost shamanic turn: absurd and fascinating, insane yet with an aura of mysterious ritual.
Work is a hilarious drama in which a broken record player dreams itself as a concrete mixer and the handyman himself ends up glued to the wall.
It’s raw and poetic, it’s concrete surrealism. It’s also exhilarating, of course!
