B.NARRATIVE
Bwanga Pilipili, Samira Hmouda
You see this video of a school show with lots of children and there's always one who's out of step, who's looking the other way and, above all, who's really looking forward to being on stage - well, that's me!
Obviously, the day a teacher says to me ‘the problem Bwanga, is that you look like a little girl who's happy to be there’, firstly I'm over thirty, and secondly I don't want to say ‘well yeah, I'm happy, I know where I'm (re)coming from!
At that point, I don't have the words, the body, the codes, the space, the means or the people to tell the story of Andromeda in summer, Soraya's running away, the dad's bipolarity, the weddings, the mini-football tournaments, the bereavements, the guys from H supporting Destiny's Child, our ‘Struggles, Letters and Strengths’....
And it's because there are still too many stories that aren't told, or aren't told well!
That stories are passed on, transformed, sought out and invented in all their nuance and radicalism, that's why I asked my partner and brother Samira Hmouda, producer, curator and artist, to create B. NARRATIVE.
We want to see and hear stories we've forgotten to tell, feelings we haven't dared to sing, themes we haven't yet filmed...
B.NARRATIVE invites you to create whatever form you want, solo or in a team, for a maximum of 7min30, whatever you want to say on a theme that will be revealed to you at midnight.
You have 3 days to imagine, test, rehearse and present at the HALLES DE SCHAERBEEK during the closing ceremony of the GRAND MARCHÉ on Sunday 7 July 2024.
